  Peugeot 360 without wheels
Peugeot design something that is both cool and special. It is about being one of a kind and if you can be that special and also help the planet go green, then it is all the more better.
It is interesting to note that concept cars these days are scarcely coming out using a conventional engine that burns fossil fuel.
Every concept car designer feels that their vehicle runs on a super-charged electric engine and the problem is that we just do not have such efficient electric engines yet!

  Wind powered sail

Isn't exactly a new idea the wind powered maritime travel.Actually it's a really old idea. So it's easy to make fun of the inovation of SkySails.
SkySails add giant kites to the front of barges in order to reduce their fuel consumption by 20%.
Turns out they are. Per square meter of sail, they produce five times more energy than traditional sails. Depending on wind conditions the 160 square meter kite can generate about as much force as an Airbus jet engine.
The more sail you use, the more energy you get, but getting the sail up and away from the turbulence caused by the body of the ship is certainly worth the effort.

  Solar powered tie
The newest edition to the solar powered devices.A solar power tie. This one certainly hits the jackpot when it comes to incongruous originality. The brain behind the nerd wear comes from a bunch of researchers from Iowa State University. It’s developed from solar fabrics and the panels on this piece of cloth are tiny and laid out in a grid that at least makes it look the regular tie, which is good!

  Electric bikes
Electric bikes are seeing a huge surge in popularity. Sales in the US doubled last year(2007).Amazon reported a 6,000% increase this summer from last year. Many bikes are priced between $1,500 to $2,500,so it is worth it to people to invest in one that with minimal effort.
Even in countries that have gotten around via pedal power for some time, battery-powered rides are looking more attractive. France is tied with the US in electric bike sales, and Germany reached 60,000 sales last year with expectations to double that this year. The Netherlands are taking the lead with 89,000 sales last year and a projected 121,000 this year. That is a whole lot of electric bikes.
Designs for bikes are more varied and cost effective. For someone who wants some serious style, there is a large handful of options. There are even peda--less options so you’re more on the side of scooter than bike.
Electric bikes are an excellent option for people who need to get around town, want to do it cheaply, greenly, and relatively sweat-free.

  Transform roads into solar collectors
Asphalt gets frakking hot when the sun shines on it.Asphalt gets hottest, about two centimeters below the surface. Engineers tried to figure out how to make it even hotter. The painted an anti-reflective coating to their test blocks, and then added highly thermally conductive quartzite to the mix.
The result is blacktop that gets even hotter and stays hotter for longer than regular asphalt. Of course, this left them with the problem of how to get the energy out of the road. By laying down a series of flexible and highly conductive copper pipes before pouring the asphalt they were able to pump water through the asphalt, picking up the heat, for use in power generation.

Tropical storm in Golf of Mexico
The depression, expected to grow to at least tropical storm, and perhaps hurricane strength before reaching the coast sometime Tuesday, is currently located 85 southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River or about 415 miles east of Galveston, TX.A tropical storm warning has been issued for parts of the western Louisiana and Texas Gulf Coasts as a tropical depression has formed in the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the tracking models call for the storm to reach strong tropical storm strength before hitting the Texas coast, but due to its location, the National Hurricane Center said tropical storm warnings were being posted from the Mississippi River to Intracoastal City. A tropical storm watch has been posted western to Port Arthur, TX.

  Nasa tastes Martian water
`We have water," William Boynton said, of the University of Arizona"We've seen evidence for this water ice before in observations by the Mars Odyssey orbiter and in disappearing chunks observed by Phoenix last month, but this is the first time Martian water has been touched and tasted."With enticing results so far and the spacecraft in good shape, NASA also announced operational funding for the mission will extend through September 30. The original prime mission of three months ends in late August. The mission extension adds five weeks to the 90 days of the prime missionTwo attempts to deliver samples of icy soil on days when fresh material was exposed were foiled when the samples became stuck inside the scoop. Most of the material in Wednesday's sample had been exposed to the air for two days, letting some of the water in the sample vapourise and making the soil easier to handle."Mars is giving us some surprises," said Phoenix principal investigator Peter Smith of the University of Arizona."We're excited because surprises are where discoveries come from. One surprise is how the soil is behaving...
